Mental Health Assessment, Diagnosis and it’s Management
Usually your GP would refer you to us following a request by you. You may contact us directly. If you contact us direct, a screening phone appointment would be required to assess best possible way to help you
Your first appointment includes comprehensive history taking and mental state examination. If further investigations are required, these will be requested, with your agreement.
Once all information is available, you will be able to have a diagnosis and recommended treatment.
If you need time to think through the diagnosis and treatment, you may discuss and choose the right treatment options in a follow up appointment.
The agreed plan and suggested medications would then be communicated to your GP who would consider the recommended plan to prescribe medications.
Memory Assessment and Management.
If you are worried about your memory, we are able to assess your memory with standardised questionnaires and history taking. In most cases, a brain scan (MRI) would be required in addition to blood tests. We will be happy to discuss this with you.
In some cases further Neuropsychology testing may be required to establish the diagnosis.
We have partnership with a competent clinical psychologist who will be able to carry this out.
Once all information is available we will be able to discuss what is causing your memory problems and what treatment options may be considered.
Mental Capacity Assessments and related Medico-Legal Work
We carry out Mental Capacity Assessments, which may be required when preparing a Will, Power of Attorney etc. You or a family member would usually instruct a solicitor who would be able to request this. You or your family member may request it directly. Please contact us for further information.

Following this the required certification will be provided.
